The small but tight-knit Australian Para Alpine team continues to go from strength to strength, with this week presenting another challenge and another opportunity.
Georgia Gunew first joined the Australian Para Alpine Team in September 2022 for a series of races in New Zealand. Just 16 months later she has earned her first World Cup medal, finishing third in slalom at the Veysonnez World Cup in Switzerland.
The 2024 FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships start later week at Portes du Soleil in the France’s Haute-Savoie department, with Snow Australia is pleased to announce five athletes will be in the starting gates.

With the season now past and the warm weather upon us I want to thank all the resorts, clubs, coaches, parents, and athletes for persevering through a difficult season.
While the winter has been a bit of a fizzle, our athletes’ performances certainly haven’t. From Alpine to Ski Cross, ANC to Childrens level competitions, our athletes have been taking advantage of every opportunity provided to them.
Twenty-five year old Louis Muhlen-Schulte has already competed at the Junior World Championships, Winter Youth Olympic Games, World Championships and Olympic Games, as well as lining up at Alpine World Cups since 2019.
While the winter may not be the best in recent memory the resorts have been doing a good job in keeping terrain open and allowing our athletes to get out on the snow.
Snow Australia is seeking expressions of interest from Alpine, Freestyle and Snowboard coaches for on-snow coaching workshops to be held across the resorts in August and September.
NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) winter athletes, coaches, support staff and high performance sport administrators have descended on Jindabyne for the annual NSWIS Winter Induction ceremony at the National Snowsports Training Centre, to celebrate the past 12 months of success and welcome the Institute’s newest scholarship holders.
