NDC Autumn Meetings - Key Outcomes

Snow Australia’s National Discipline Committees (NDCs) recently came together for their Autumn meetings to discuss strategic priorities, pathway development and conduct discipline-specific planning. These meetings play a vital role in shaping each discipline and ensuring strong alignment between community, grassroots and high-performance outcomes.

Park & Pipe

  • Endorsed rule changes for all levels of Interschools, including implementation of "Did Not Improve" judging.
  • Agreed to fund additional judges for FIS-sanctioning of the Thredbo Park events.
  • Acknowledged a major development with Thredbo Triple Crown events being officially sanctioned and included in the ANC Series, enhancing athlete development and international progression.

Alpine

  • Continued development of the National Alpine Plan with members reviewing and refining key strategic elements.
  • Identified the need for improved financial transparency regarding Snow Australia’s funding commitments.
  • Highlighted the opportunity to utilise retained earnings interest to enhance governance and compliance operations.
  • Ongoing collaboration to define performance benchmarks and strategic targets.

Freestyle

  • Formed a working group to develop a 10-year Freestyle Discipline Strategy.
  • Proposed the introduction of a new national-level program to bridge the gap between club and NSWIS levels.
  • Planning a review of World Cup nomination processes and selection criteria (post-OWG).
  • Exploring coach development pathways, including international accreditation, funding opportunities, and year-round coaching engagement.
  • Intention to form a dedicated coach development working group.

Snowboard

  • Commenced work on a long-term strategic plan for SBX and Alpine Snowboarding, from grassroots to Olympic level.
  • Reviewing individual and team selection criteria to better support athlete development.
  • Developing strategies to strengthen ANC event fields and expand event hosting across resorts.
  • Focused on boosting development-level snowboard programs and coaching.
  • In Alpine Snowboarding, identified the need to increase athlete exposure and engagement, while continuing to support elite athletes.

Cross Country

  • Addressing key finance and operations needs, including budget planning for major events and securing marketing contracts.
  • Enhancing media and sponsorship efforts through athlete bios, video content, and PR tools.
  • Extending and publishing selection criteria, with a focus on clearer communication to athletes.
  • Scheduling reviews of event structures and interschools participation.
  • Advancing coaching and education initiatives, including recruitment of Technical Delegates and funding strategy working groups.
  • Developing a Para Nordic pathway with defined selection criteria and athlete support planning.
  • Exploring sponsorship opportunities and concussion education updates.
  • Reviewing and updating the 10-year strategic plan.
