XC World Masters coming up in Klosters
Published Sun 23 Feb 2025
A team of twenty-eight Australian Masters (over 30 years old) XC skiers are heading to Switzerland for the Masters World Cup 2025, to be held in Klosters from 10-14 March.
Most trained in Australia on roller-skis, some in locations such as the Torrens River trail in Adelaide, Yarra Park, Melbourne, and remote roads across central Queensland. Many are already in Europe, skiing in places such as Goms in the Swiss Valais, Dobbiaco in the Italian Dolomites, the Savoie region of France, Klopptjonna in Norway, and Estonia. Some have competed in races such as the Gommerlauf, the Marathon du Grand Bec, Gsieser Tal Lauf in Italy, and the Sapporo Marathon in Japan.

Over the next two weeks team members will concentrate at Livigno, Italy for a final training camp. At the Masters World Cup they will compete in Classic and Freestyle races over distances of 10km, 15 km and 30km, as well as 4 x 5km team relays. The Australian Masters will also be competing to reclaim the AUS-UK XC Ski “Ashes” from the United Kingdom team.
As the largest Australian contingent since the Masters World Cups began, the team hopes to do well and have a great time.
Full details for the event including schedules and course maps are available on the Klosters 2025 website.
