The Winter Olympics isn’t just skiing fast downhill—it’s a mix of speed, skill, style and more than a little bravery.
From blistering speed to gravity-defying tricks, these events are packed with skill, courage and the kind of wipeouts that make you watch through your fingers.
Whether athletes are racing the clock, launching sky-high tricks or battling head-to-head on snow, each event brings its own unique thrill.
Here’s a simple breakdown of the must-know disciplines to help you watch like a pro.
Moguls
Fast, furious and bumpy, moguls skiing sees athletes charging through a field of snow bumps while throwing in jumps and tricks along the way.
Moguls is one of the most explosive and entertaining events at the Winter Olympics, blending speed, skill and aerial flair. Athletes ski down a steep course covered in tightly packed bumps (the moguls), weaving through them while launching off jumps to perform high-flying tricks.
Runs are judged on a combination of turns, jumps and overall speed, meaning skiers need power in their legs, pinpoint control and the confidence to throw tricks under pressure. One mistimed turn or sketchy landing can cost crucial points, which is why moguls delivers edge-of-your-seat action from top to bottom.
