Future champions shine at Thredbo in NSW Junior Moguls Series opener

Up-and-coming mogul skiers converged on Thredbo to contest the NSW Junior Mogul Championships, the first event of the 2025 Junior Series.
66 athletes across Youth and Junior divisions contested the two-day competition, which is the next step in the pathway after Interschools. Offering a similar format to World Cup events and Olympic Winter Games, it is a key event for young athletes who are eager to get a taste of high-level competition.
On day one, Haoying Zhao led the Junior women’s field with a score of 64.12, followed by Chiara Ewing in second place and Alexia Karedis in third. Alana Hunt topped the Youth category with 65.10, edging out Eliza Walker and Victoria Jones. On day two, Zhao went back-to-back, securing another win in the Junior division with 52.24, ahead of Karedis in second and Amelia Conway in third. Hunt repeated her victory in the Youth event, scoring 67.75, while Walker and Jones maintained their positions on the podium.
In the men’s events, Cooper Cook opened the series with a score of 59.56 to win the Junior division, with Archer Glaskin and Oscar Parsons close behind. In the Youth division Angus Max Cook, brother to Cooper, made it a family affair when he took first with 60.93, ahead of Edward Madson and Luca Kingham. On day two, Parsons flipped the script claiming Junior gold with 62.00, trailed by Cooper Cook and Glaskin. Angus Max Cook repeated his top performance in the Youth division with 57.52, joined on the podium by Benjamin Hodgkinson and Kingham.
The Series now heads to Perisher on 2-3 August, where the NSW Junior Mogul Championships will be decided.
