Athletes of Snow Australia’s Emerging Talent Program (ETP) will take over the National Snowsports Training Centre (NSTC) in Jindabyne this weekend, as the cohort of athletes comes together for the annual launch camp.
53 athletes across all snow disciplines will be in attendance, supported by 17 coaches.
Athletes will focus on discipline specific components, alongside being immersed in all aspects of development.
Physical screening, discipline specific sessions, coach/athlete sessions, team building activities, strength and conditioning practical /education and goal setting will be covered during the camp.
Snowboarder Logan Cuss is looking forward to learning new things and meeting new people.
Cuss’ ETP journey has already started with a Park & Pipe airbag camp recently held at the NSTC, May 29 to 31.
Working with coach Cam Hoddle, confidence was what he gained most from the camp.
“One thing I learnt was becoming more confident and consistent at spinning all four ways on the airbag,” Hoddle said.
“I will take it to the snow this season once I am feeling more comfortable,” he said.
The airbag camp brought together athletes from around Australia across freeski and snowboard disciplines. Improving and learning new tricks was a key focus across the camp.
FreeSkier, Maya Broadbent also attended the recently wrapped airbag camp under coach Cam Waddell.
“I really enjoyed the airbag camp,” Broadbent said.
“It was fun to train with other Australian skiers,” she said.
For Broadbent, the Airbag camp allowed her to grow her trick range and improve on tricks she has already landed on snow by adding different grabs.
“I also worked on new bigger tricks that I am hoping to take to snow this season,” she added.
