Moguls coach Lachlan Turner has taken another important step in his coaching journey, spending several days in Perisher last week as part of Snow Australia’s Coach Apprenticeship Program.

From 12-15 September, Turner shadowed Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) Head Moguls Coach Pete McNeil during the team’s training block on Toppa’s Dream, gaining valuable insights into high-performance coaching.

“These last few days in Perisher have been a great learning experience for me,” Turner said.

“Getting to learn from Pete and the whole team has helped me see why this team is so successful in what they do.

“Over the last few days I’ve seen from Pete just how important it is for a coach to be able to adapt to each individual athlete to achieve their goals on the course.

“Pete has made me realise that moguls is more than just skiing, the hard work comes with the decisions made off the snow.”

The Coach Apprenticeship Program provides aspiring Australian coaches with the opportunity to learn from some of the country’s most experienced mentors, ensuring knowledge and expertise is passed through to the next generation.

Turner’s experience in Perisher marks another positive step in his development as a moguls coach, with opportunities like this helping to strengthen Australia’s coaching pathway across all winter disciplines.
