Snow Australia has selected a 9-strong team to compete at the FIS Park & Pipe Junior World Championships, in Calgary (CAN) from 26 February through until 7 March.

The team is composed of three snowboard athletes, and six freeski athletes, headlined by Olympian Indra Brown, fresh off the back of her fifth place performance in the Olympic final in Milano-Cortina.

Siblings Maya and Hugo Broadbent will also don the green and gold for Australia, an opportunity both are looking forward to.

“I am so happy to be here as one of the youngest competitors and I’m excited to compete against some of the best 18 and under athletes from all over the world,” Maya said.

“I am really excited to compete with some of the best athletes in the world - it is an awesome opportunity that I am stoked to be able to take part in,” Hugo said.

The Broadbent’s have never competed in Calgary before, but have set themselves some solid goals for the event.

“I’ve only driven through Calgary, but never stopped to ski,” Maya said. “I want to land clean runs with the latest tricks I have been working on, and also to enjoy the experience,” she said.

“This is my first time skiing in Calgary but so far it has been super fun,” Hugo said. “My main goals for this competition is to put all of my training to show, and land a run that I am happy with, while still being able to have as much fun as I can,” he said.

The competition kicks off with the Snowboard Slopestyle Qualifications on day one.
