Super weekend of winter action 17 - 20 December

While Aussies are starting to wind down for the festive season, our World Cup athletes are still ramping up the action this weekend with several events around the world
Moguls World Cup- Alpe d’Huez, France
16-18 December 2021

Qualifiers have already taken place for the Alpe d’Huez World Cup, with Aussie Jakara Anthony qualifying in first place for the Women’s Dual Moguls and Britt Cox qualifying fifth. Taylah O’Neill missed out on a spot in the 16-skier DM final by one spot, placing 17th.
In the men’s individual moguls qualifiers, Brodie Summers is through to the 16-skier Final 1 ranked 12th. James Matheson just missed out, placing 19th, and Cooper Woods placed 51st.
Ski Cross World Cup - Innichen, Italy

The Aussie Ski Cross Team have back-to-back World Cups this week. The Team of Sami Kennedy-Sim, Robbie Morrison and Doug Crawford competed at the Arosa World Cup in Switzerland earlier this week, with Kennedy-SIm placing 19th in the women’s event and Morrison and Crawford placing 58th and 59th respectively in the men’s event.
The Team had a quick turn around and are now in Innichen, Italy for another two World Cup events over the weekend.
Snowboard Cross World Cup- Cervinia, Italy

After a successful campaign in Montafon last weekend, the Australian Snowboard Cross Team is back in action in Italy this weekend.
Montafon silver medallist Belle Brockhoff will compete in the women’s event alongside young guns Josie Baff and Mia Clift.
Six riders will don the green and gold in the men’s event with Jarryd Hughes, Cam Bolton, Adam Dickson, Adam Lambert, Kobi Dent and Declan Dent.

Sprint World Cup- Dresden, Germany
18-19 December

Phillip Bellingham and Seve de Campo will represent Australia at this weekend’ Dresden World Cup in the Team Sprint event.
As the only Team Sprint World Cup on the schedule this season, the event will provide valuable experience in the exchange zone, even though the race in Dresden is in Freestyle and the Olympic Team Sprint is Classic.
Cross Country Continental Cup – St Ulrich, Austria
18-19 December

Aside from Bellingham and de Campo, the majority of the Australian Cross Country Team are in St Ulrich for the OPA Continental Cup this weekend.
The St Ulrich races will help determine the selection for the Lenzerheide World Cup in Switzerland just after Christmas. Bellingham and Casey Wright have direct quota places in the World Cup from winning the AUS-NZL Continental Cup in August, while de Campo and Jessica Yeaton have been pre-selected for Lenzerheide based on their performances at the Davos World Cup and the Goms Continental Cup the weekend before.

Alpine
Aussie Alpine skiers are lining up for a number of events in Europe this weekend.
Greta Small will compete at the Alpine World Cup- Val d’Isere, France ,16-19 December, Results website
Louis Muhlen and Harry Laidlaw are lining up at the Glungezer European Cup in Austria, 19-20 December. Results Website. Muhlen is then going onto Italy for the Madonna di Campiglio World Cup on 22 December. Results Website.
Zoe Michael, Kathryn Parker, Henry Heaydon, Hugh McAdam and Thomas Hoffman are all in Panorama, Canada for the Nor-Am Cup.
Parker recorded a career-best Nor-Am Cup placing of 5th in the second Women’s Giant Slalom race on Thursday, after a strong 22nd place finish in the first GS race on Wednesday.
Heaydon was the best placed Australian in the Men’s Slalom on Wednesday, finishing 22nd.
Over the next two days, the women will contest the Slalom and the men will compete in the Giant Slalom. Results Website
Para Alpine World Cup - St Moritz, Switzerland

The Aussie Para Alpine Team are in action in St Moritz this weekend. Cheer on Mitchell Gourley, Sam Tait, Patrick Jensen, Jonty O’Callaghan, Josh Hanlon and Melissa Perrine.
Snowboard Alpine World Cup - Cortina d Ampezzo, Italy

Just days after their first World Cup event of the season, Australia’s snowboard alpine team of Millie Bongiorno and Harvey Edmanson competed in Giant Parallel Slalom at the Carezza World Cup in Italy earlier this week. Bongiorno placed 45th in Carezza and Edmanson 68th.
The duo have a quick turn around ahead of the Parallel GS races in Cortina d Ampezzo this weekend.
Snowboard and Ski Dew Tour - Colorado, U.S.A

Although not an Olympic qualifying event, the Dew Tour is a prestigious invitational event on the Winter calendar.
Valentino Guseli has qualified 9th in the Men’s Snowboard Superpipe with finals to be held at 10.50am Sunday 19 December (4.50am AEDT Monday 20 December)
Tess Coady will compete in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle event at 9am Saturday 18th December (3am AEDT Sunday 19 December)
Dual Paralympian Ben Tudhope will compete in the Men’s Snowboard Adaptive Banked Slalom at 9.45am local time on Friday 18 December (3.45am AEDT Saturday 19 December). Follow the event live via the Dew Tour YouTube page.
