Snow Sale successfully returns to Canberra

The traditional Canberra Snow Sale was held last Saturday at the Exhibition Park in Canberra and saw hundreds of visitors come through the doors to purchase ski and snowboard equipment ahead of the winter season.

The Canberra Snow Sale is a fundraiser for ACT local programs and supporting the development of snow sport community initiatives. The event could not have run so smoothly without the dedicated team of volunteers who gave up their time to help running operations on the day and contributed to make it the most successful sales event to date.

One of those brilliant volunteers was 15-year-old junior cross country skier Heli Laajoki, who recognised how it was a big team effort to put the event together.

“It was really nice to see everyone today, connect with the community and meet new skiers.

“You really have to see how much work goes on behind the scenes. The effort and dedication that goes into making all this happen and getting everyone their skis and gear for the season is really incredible,” Heli said.

The Snow Sale was a great opportunity for members of the community to get together and reconnect with their snow friends in person, after many had a year away from the snow in 2020. Both Canberra Alpine Club and Canberra Cross Country Club had a dedicated area at the event to connect with their members.

The annual event will be back in Canberra on Saturday 14 May 2022. In the meantime, if you are looking at buying and/or selling preloved equipment ahead of the winter season, Snow Australia’s Jindabyne Snow Sale is happening on the June long weekend at the Memorial Hall. Snow Australia would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the event by either selling their items or purchasing equipment.
