Snow Australia Para FUTURES is back again in 2021 with a two-day camp organised in Perisher, NSW on July 24-25 with support from Paralympics Australia (PA) and Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA).

The camp will also include off-snow activities, held at the Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with current Para National team and Development teams members and coaches to learn about the Para Pathway and life as a world-class athlete.

FUTURES is Snow Australia ski and snowboard athlete development and talent identification program. Through Para FUTURES, Snow Australia has a vision to identify the next big talents in Para snow sports,  alpine and snowboard, standing or sitting, with athletes from all disciplines welcome to attend the camp.

The on-snow session of the camp will be held at Perisher Ski Resort, where all participants will have the opportunity to develop fundamental skills under the tutelage of experienced coaches. Athletes will get a taste of what a team training environment looks like as well as gain experience in gate training on a GS racecourse. This session will also focus on basic skill assessments, technical drills and National Classification verification.

The Snow Australia Para FUTURES are best suited to the confident, independent and dedicated alpine skiers and snowboarders with a physical or visual impairment aged 12 and above.  This may include athletes with visual impairments, paraplegic or wheelchair users, amputees of any limb (whether they are standing or using seated equipment) and athletes with cerebral palsy or hemiplegia. This range of impairments is built around the current Paralympic winter sports classifiable impairments list.

Paralympic National Classifiers will hold an information session and run National Classification testing for applicants. This involves both an on-snow and an off snow examination from the classifiers.
