Snow Australia CEO Update

Dear Snow Australia Community
As I write this short note, the majority of our members and snowsport community are in some form of lockdown, at a time when we would all like to be up in the mountains doing what we love.
It is incredible to think that 12 months on from a season which was so severely impacted by the effects of COVID-19, we now face similar challenges in terms of operating programs and events for our kids in the pathway.
Our High-Performance programs, in an Olympic Year, continue to face challenges, but are showing the kind of nimbleness and determination that will put them in good stead come Beijing, in just over 200 days time. Our resorts continue to support the efforts of our athletes and pathway activities to the best of their ability, not withstanding the difficult circumstances they find themselves in, once again. We are truly grateful for their support.
There is little alternative but to keep moving forward. Working within the framework made available to us by the authorities and making the most of each and every opportunity to be on snow when that time comes.
The landscape is constantly changing. The impact on the resorts, the community and the pathway willl continue to evolve and will not be known in full for some time. If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it is that we must remain agile and flexible. We must remain open minded and positive. Snow Australia continues to provide support to athletes and programs, and will continue to engage with the community via online forums, workshops and resort visits as restrictions allow. As always, we encourage you to reach out should you need anything from any of our team.
From a philosophical perspective, I would urge the many programs and event operators within our pathway to remain positive and open to the possibilities, as things continue to evolve and change. There is still much to salvage from this season in terms of programs and events. Scenarios can change very quickly. It may not perfect. It may not be as it has been in the past. However nothing we face now as a sport and as an industry is as it was. At least for the time being!
Look after each other and, of course, stay safe.
Kindest regards,
Michael Kennedy
