The Snow Australia Board held its 199th meeting on Friday July 25, 2025. Below is a summary of the key outcomes and decisions made at the meeting:
AOC Collaboration
New AOC CEO Mark Arbib attended the Board in Jindabyne. Mark outlined his plans as AOC CEO and looking forward to working with Snow Australia and the wintersport community. He also congratulated Snow Australia on the establishment of the NSTC.
10-Year Vision & Strategy
CEO Michael Kennedy presented progress on a 10-year strategic vision and the Connected Participant Strategy aimed at identifying and engaging snow sport participants beyond Snow Australia's direct membership.
High Performance
High Performance Manager Ben Wordsworth presented a comprehensive update with the following inclusions:
- The What It Takes To Win framework was presented to the AIS and received positively.
- Campaign funding has been secured to support Park & Pipe coaching ahead of Milano Cortina 2026.
- Board approved the Cross-Country nomination criteria for the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games
- Board approved the Para Nordic nomination criteria for the 2026 Milano Cortina Paralympic Games
Governance & Risk:
- The FRG Committee confirmed that the annual submission to ASC against the Sports Governance Standard was completed in May. Results once again demonstrate our ongoing advancement across all areas.
- The Board congratulated Biathlon Australia on completing its unification.
Events & Participation:
- Report provided on Women of Winter networking series which continues to gain momentum following a strong start in Jindabyne. Further events to be held at Mt Hotham and Mt Buller.
- The Brisbane Water Jump Grand Prix will not proceed in 2025 due to international teams prioritising their Olympic training and preparations.
- Interschools and other event activity remain strong, with positive collaboration across resorts.
Organisational Development:
- An economic impact study is underway to quantify the sport’s contribution to the snow industry.
- The Board resolved to undertake a review of our recognised pathway providers and associated club/program recognition system which currently operates. More details to be provided at the upcoming meeting.
- Details were provided of new investment made into Snow Australia’s digital communications and social media.
Next Meeting:
- Board Meeting #200 will be held on 15 September 2025 with a focus on governance and education.
