Slopestyle stars shine in Thredbo’s Triple Crown showdown

An impressive field of 68 athletes across four divisions lined up for Thredbo’s Triple Crown: Slopestyle, an event sanctioned by FIS in 2025 and proudly part of the Australian New Zealand Cup (ANC) series.
With international points on offer and a generous cash and prize pool, the competition drew a mix of national and emerging athletes.
In the women’s snowboard, Mela Stalker confirmed her place among the sport’s rising stars as she produced a commanding second run that scored an unassailable 91.67 points. Fellow emerging rider Ally Hickman bounced back from a slow start to finish second overall after she scored 84.67 in her second run, while Jess McGregor rounded out the podium after she also improved on her first run to score 69.67 in run two.
32 athletes lined up to contest the men’s final which was ultimately won by Tiarn Collins after he produced a powerhouse performance to score 92.67 in his opener. Joshua Li seized the silver medal with a score of 89.33, and Zephyr Lovelock held his ground with an 85.33 to finish third. Snow Australia emerging talent Jesse Parkinson, Joey Elliss, and Toby McIlwaine were also in the mix, adding depth to the field and highlighting the strength of Australia’s up-and-coming snowboarding cohort.
In the men’s freeski, Fergus McArthur laid down a commanding second run with a flawless 90.00 from each of the three judges. Lucas Ball opened strong with an 85.00 in his first run to be rewarded with the silver medal while Aidan Laing bounced back from an underwhelming opener to post an impressive 83.00.
In the women’s freeski, national standout Daisy Thomas claimed top spot with a commanding score of 87.00, delivering a polished, high-scoring run. Close behind, Madeleine Disbrowe secured second with 82.00 points in her opening run. Rounding out the podium, rising talent Indra Brown was consistent across both runs and earned 75.67 in the second run to finish third overall.
