Q&A with new NSTC Program Coordinator Desnee Richter

Snow Australia is delighted to announce Desnee Richter has accepted the position of National Snowsports Training Centre (NSTC) Program & Acro/S&C Coordinator.

Snow Australia caught up with Desnee to talk about her experience, NSTC, the role and what excites her about the future.

Tell us a bit about the role you'll be taking on at Snow Australia?

The role I’ll be taking on at Snow Australia is NSTC Program & Acro/S&C coordinator. This means I’ll be coordinating and managing the programs happening at the NSTC park and acro facilities.

Part of my job will also be providing acro coaching to the local community and private groups and working with the lead of strength and conditioning, Layne Flannery, to deliver S&C support and programming with a focus on development pathway groups.

What excites you about this role?

Coming from a coaching background, I am really excited to better understand and contribute to all the behind the scenes work that allows the day-to-day activities at the NSTC to run so smoothly and provide such a great environment for participants of all kinds to be involved in snow sports.

I am also really excited to work with and learn from a really experienced and knowledgeable group of colleagues across all the different snow sport disciplines.

You've been involved at the NSTC for a number of years, what is it that makes it so special?

I have been an acro coach at the NSTC for nearly two and a half years now.

I think what makes it so special is the wide range of participants that the NSTC brings in that I get to work and build relationships with.

I could be in the acro centre bouncing around with my tiniest tumblers that are three-years-old, while looking over and seeing some of our Winter Olympians training in the gym. It’s really cool to see all levels of participation in one place and the benefits of that.

How passionate are you about supporting the snow sports community?

I’m very passionate about supporting the snow sports community.

It’s a community driven by shared enthusiasm, progression and a love for the mountains and I enjoy being part of something that helps people challenge themselves and grow their skills, while bringing people together of all levels and backgrounds.
