After another impressive season at the helm of the Australian moguls team, Peter McNiel was awarded ‘Coach of the Year’ at the Snow Australia Awards.
In the 2025-2026 season alone, McNiel’s team collected three Olympic medals, of which two were gold, and a suite of World Cup podiums.
The results rightfully earned McNeil the Award for ‘Coach of the Year’ which he credited to his entire team.
“I stand here with pride on how successful Australian winter sport is and how it is continuing to grow.”
“It's an honour for a mogul coach to accept this Award amongst so many successful sport programs, athletes and over the four year period, a phenomenal period of Australian winter sport,” he said.
“At the end of the day, all of these Awards that the athletes and mogul team win, or that have been bestowed on me, they really do belong to the team as a whole.”
Creating a supportive culture within the team and the support staff, has been instrumental, starting from top down. He and leadership counterpart, Kate Blamey have fostered an environment where the collective vision is embodied by all and has contributed to their success.
“Even the athletes in the team including the athletes that didn't go to the games are all a part of that culture.”
“It seems to be getting better and it really inspires me to want to keep going and see how good Australians can be across the winter sports,” he said.
