New online training course for Interschools volunteers

Published Tue 18 May 2021

As celebrations for National Volunteer Week continue, Snow Australia has launched a new online training course to support Interschools volunteer course officials and provide them with more information on the roles they will officiate on at the Interschools Championships.

On a typical Interschools event day, up to 50 volunteer officials are needed on the various resort competition courses to create a fair and safe event for everyone involved.

The online course can be taken at any time before volunteers will be officiating at an Interschools event. It will allow volunteers to be prepared for their role and be able to turn up on event day ready to go.

The new Interschools officials training course is the latest course on Snow Australia’s Snow Academy online learning portal. Utilising videos and learning activities, the training course provides an introduction to the Interschools event, including its role in the competitive snow sports environment and how the event is managed. It also highlights the key roles within the resorts’ race departments, course officials’ roles and responsibilities (including how to identify the various types of incorrect gate passage) and how to best prepare for volunteering at the event.

More information on how to complete the course is available at https://www.interschools.com.au/info-hub/officials-training-course/
