Merry Christmas from Snow Australia
Published Fri 18 Dec 2020
To the Snow Australia community,
As this remarkable year draws to a close it is timely to reflect on what has been an incredibly difficult and uncertain time for our sport and more broadly our community.
Despite the obvious challenges, there was much to celebrate and reflect on throughout the year. From recognising our athletes amazing performances via the online Snow Australia Awards to honouring and telling the stories of our past champions via the Snow Australia Medal. There is much to be proud of.
Unfortunately travel restrictions and an escalating COVID situation in the Northern Hemisphere has meant that for the first time there are only a handful of Aussie athletes competing overseas this winter. To those that are over there, mostly chasing Olympic qualification, we wish them a safe passage and much success. If early season results are anything to go by, they are well on track.
The Snow Australia team worked tirelessly throughout the year delivering many new projects and preparing for (then cancelling) dozens of significant events including the Interschools competitions. These events will return in 2021 as will training programs and camps with a renewed energy and focus.
With very few athletes and programs away this summer Snow Australia will take the opportunity to offer some extended leave for our staff. Accordingly, the majority of Snow Australia staff will be on leave from this Friday 18th December returning Monday 18th January. We will be monitoring emails during this time and as such ask anyone with urgent needs or enquiries to email urgent@snow.org.au and someone will respond accordingly.
Finally, I would like to wish our entire Snowsport community a happy, safe and festive Christmas and New Year. Enjoy a well-deserved break as we look forward to 2021 with absolute excitement and hope.
All the very best.
