This year’s Interschools events have been a resounding success, setting the stage for a thrilling Australian Interschools Snowsport Championships to be held at Mt Buller from 2-7 September. This year the event will welcome 3,700 entries from over 330 schools.

The season has seen strong participation and a vibrant celebration of school spirit, inclusivity, and athleticism.

Regional championships kicked off in July, drawing enthusiastic competitors from Northern NSW, QLD ACT, Southern and Regional NSW. Perisher hosted standout performances during the Travelplan Ski Northern NSW & QLD Championships and Suburu ACT & Southern NSW Championships, while Thredbo welcomed Subaru Sydney schools from 15-18 July. As well as fierce competition, The Subaru ACT & Southern NSW Championships from 22-25 July showcased the growing impact of multiclass events, reinforcing Snow Australia’s commitment to inclusive pathways.

South of the border, the 2025 Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships, held at Mt Buller, continued its legacy as one of the largest school sporting events in the state, drawing over 6,400 entries from more than 250 schools across nine disciplines. Complementing the Victorian Championships, the South Australian and Tasmanian Interschools Championships took place at Falls Creek on 16-17 July, offering students a chance to compete in Alpine, Snowboard Giant Slalom, Ski Cross, and Snowboard Cross disciplines. The Mogul Ski World Victorian Interschools Cross Country Championships were conducted on Sunday 3 August under blue skies with 50 schools participating.

A heartwarming highlight of the season has been the return of Interschools alumni who stopped by to attend presentations and cheer on the next generation.

Abbey Wilson, a Winter Youth Olympic Games medallist and former Interschools competitor attended the medal presentation of the Travelplan Ski Northern NSW & QLD Interschools Championships.

“Interschools was so much fun,” Wilson said. “I did it from Year 2 until Year 12 only finishing last year and it was a way that really introduced me to racing and to the sports that I now continue and love to do. I got to compete in a team with some of my best friends from school, which was amazing,” she said.

Olympian Valentino Guseli was a special guest at the medal presentation at the Subaru ACT-Southern NSW Interschools Championships. Guseli is a proud former participant of these championships, having represented Red Hill Primary School in the ACT, as well as Narooma Public School and Narooma High School.
