After making her Olympic debut in Milan Cortina, 16-year-old Indra Brown caps off an incredible breakout season, taking out the award for Junior Athlete of the Year at the 2026 Snow Australia Awards, held in her home city of Melbourne in April.
In the 2025-2026 season, Brown broke onto the World Cup circuit, where she went on to claim three podium finishes in her first three events. Most notably, winning the Calgary World Cup halfpipe event.
Only turning 16 the week before the Olympic Games, the Melbourne school girl became the youngest member of the 2026 Australian Winter Olympic team.
She stood amongst the best female freestyle skiers in the world, advancing to the final, where she finished an incredible fifth place.
The result landed her in the history books as the second highest finisher by an Australian teenager at a Winter Olympic Games.
“It's an honour to win this award because it is such tough competition,” she said about taking out Snow Australia Junior Athlete of the Year.
“Everyone has worked so hard and they are such incredible athletes,” she said. “ To be amongst these athletes, it's an honour.”
Not slowing down after her impressive Olympic performance, Brown returned to the snow post Olympics claiming victory at the FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships in Calgary, Canada.
“It's been such an amazing season. To be able to come out and show everyone what I have been working really hard on, and the results have been amazing,”
“To have the opportunity to have done this at my age is a dream come true,” she said.
