Australian Cross Country skier Rosie Fordham has won the Swiss Championships 10km Freestyle at Les Diablerets over the weekend.
With a time of 26:29.2, Fordham clocked the fastest time in first ahead of Switzerland’s Carla Nina Wohler in second and Ramona Schoepfer in third.
Fordham said she was proud of her race, and the strategy she planned for it.
“It was very hard, and there wasn’t a lot of rest on this course. But I think I started quite hard, and then pushed well throughout the race so I was happy with it (my performance),” Fordham said.
“I started pretty strong but I think I made up most of my time in the last lap so maybe I left just enough in the tank for that,” she said.
The Australian Cross Country team returns to the World Cup at Goms in Switzerland this weekend, from 23-25 January.
Fordham will be joined by Maddie Hooker, Ellen Soehol LIe, Tuva Byrave, Hugo Hinckfuss, Seve de Campo and Lars Young Vik.
The events in Goms are Team Sprint in Freestyle, Classic Sprint and 20km Classic Mass Start.
