First Para Alpine Development Camp of 2026/27 season
Published Thu 09 Jul 2026
Snow Australia has successfully hosted its first Para Alpine Development Camp of the 2026 winter season, bringing together athletes, coaches and support staff in Jindabyne, NSW, from 29 June to 3 July.
The five day camp provided an important opportunity for athletes to prepare for the season ahead, with a strong focus on individual performance goals, technical development and building the foundations for upcoming domestic and international competitions. Based at the National Snowsports Training Centre (NSTC), athletes completed a range of strength and conditioning sessions, alongside acrobatic training designed to improve movement skills, coordination and body awareness.
A highlight of the week was the opportunity to train on the NSTC's ski simulator. The simulator allowed athletes to refine technical movements through high quality repetition, helping develop muscle memory and improve skiing efficiency in a controlled environment.

Off the training floor, athletes took part in educational workshops, including a ski tuning and equipment maintenance session. The workshop gave athletes practical, hands on experience in caring for their equipment while reinforcing the important role equipment preparation plays in performance.
The camp also placed a strong emphasis on building team culture. Despite a slower start to the Australian snow season, athletes embraced every opportunity to learn, connect and make the most of the week together. Hiking, frisbee golf and other team activities helped strengthen relationships across the group.
Para Pathway Manager Bobbi Kelly said the camp highlighted the positive culture continuing to develop within the program.
"It was fantastic to see our development athletes, coaches and support staff come together as one team. While it's been a slower start to the winter, everyone has remained incredibly motivated and committed to finding new ways to develop. The athletes embraced every opportunity to learn, support one another and build strong connections."
Another memorable experience saw athletes testing their skills on the NSTC airbag, providing a fun and safe environment to develop confidence while practising new movements.
The camp concluded with athletes leaving more confident, better prepared and excited for the winter ahead.
Snow Australia's next Para Alpine Development Camp will take place from 10-14 August, while the first Para Snowboard Development Camp of the season will run from 9-13 July.
