Australia’s representatives at the Milano Cortina Paralympic Winter Games will be kitted out in sleek and stylish ceremonial, competition and casual wear, revealed at a special event hosted by the Governor-General at Admiralty House in Sydney.

Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Paralympics Australia’s Patron-in-Chief, officially launched the team uniform, which highlights innovative accessibility features, Australian cultural themes and predominantly locally sourced materials.

The launch included 14 of the nation’s leading Milano Cortina 2026 aspirants, including Para-snowboarder Sean Pollard, who has been appointed Australian Paralympic Team captain for the Games.

Among the other athletes modelling the new uniform was Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics medallist, snowboarder Ben Tudhope, returning Milano Cortina hopeful Michael Milton and a quartet of Para-biathletes seeking to become Australia’s first Paralympic athletes in the sport since Vancouver 2010.

Australian Paralympic Team Chef de Mission Ben Troy said the uniform launch was a particularly exciting moment for everyone involved in the campaign.

“Our athletes across Para-biathlon and cross country, Para-snowboard and Para-alpine skiing are busily training and competing, trying to secure their place on the team for Milano Cortina,” he said.

“But being able to see and feel the beautiful team uniforms that have been created helps bring home the reality that the Games are not far away at all.

“They really are spectacular items. Our athletes will feel comfortable, look stylish and have the most up-to-date innovations in their clothing to help them compete at their very best.”

The team’s ceremonial wear was created by R.M. Williams and casual and competition wear was created by Karbon, XTM, New Balance and Birkenstock.

The event, hosted by Paralympian Ellie Cole, was attended by special guests, including Australian Institute of Sport Director Matti Clements, Commonwealth Games Australia CEO Craig Phillips and Nine Entertainment CEO Matt Stanton.

Troy thanked the Governor-General for her ongoing support for the Australian Paralympic Movement.

“Her Excellency’s support is deeply appreciated by everyone at Paralympics Australia, not least our athletes, who strive to represent Australia at their best and make the entire nation proud,” he said.
