Australian athletes securing international silverware

Competing in New Zealand in the last week, Australian athletes in two disciplines have dominated their respective Australia New Zealand Cups (ANC), picking up seven podium finishes between them.
Some of Australia’s youngest Freeski stars showcased their talent in the Slopestyle ANC The Remarkables on 16 August.
In the women’s competition, 15-year-old Indra Brown finished in first place, with a score 11 points ahead of the next competitor in an incredible performance.
Meanwhile in the men’s competition, Aiden Laing picked up third place behind New Zealand and Japanese athletes.
Fellow Australians, Maya Broadbent (4th), Sian Townsend (7th), and Hugo Broadbent (13th) also took on the Slopestyle ANC The Remarkables.
Australian alpine athletes continued the New Zealand silverware haul at Mount Hutt for the Alpine ANC from 18-22 August, with two Slalom and one Giant Slalom event going ahead.
Louis Muhlen-Schulte secured both a first and second in the Slalom events, and a third in the Giant Slalom - collecting a trifecta.
In the women’s events Phoebe Heaydon picked up a second in the Slalom and a third in the Giant Slalom (GS), with Sophie Mahon earning a sixth place finish in the Slalom.
Congratulations to the Australians who also competed: Adam McHugh, Henry Heaydon, Felix Sachs, Max Kelly, Zac Pulver, Lara Kelly, Connor Leggett.
Athletes from Australia’s national alpine team will now head home to compete at the Thredbo ANC to be held over four days from 25- 28 August with two Slalom and Giant Slalom races on the schedule.
