6 Months on from Milano-Cortina | Indra Brown
Published Thu 20 Aug 2026
Standing at the top of Perisher’s front valley slopestyle park, we caught up with sixteen year old Winter Olympian Indra Brown to see what she has been up to six months on from her Milano Cortina Olympic Games debut.
Indra’s sweet sixteenth birthday looked a little different to most young girls from Melbourne. The MLC Kew student traded a summer birthday for a winter one, celebrating in the thick of training just a week out from her Olympic debut.
It capped off a breakout rookie season on the FIS World Cup tour, where the then fifteen year old made the podium in her first three World Cup starts, becoming the youngest Australian to podium at a World Cup in any winter sport.
Coached by Jamie Melton, who guided Eileen Gu to Olympic glory at the 2022 Winter Olympics, Indra is widely tipped as a look into freeskiing’s future and already turning heads globally.
Now back home in Australia, Indra is reflecting on an extraordinary first stint on the global tour. However, it is clear the results are a stepping stone to her future in the sport.
“It’s been pretty amazing. Nothing has changed, and I'm still the same person but I think I have grown so much and learned so much,” she said.
“I’m just excited to keep pushing my skiing.”
Whilst Indra’s biggest results are in Halfpipe, her skills stretch beyond the ditch. With a string of junior results in Slopestyle and Big Air behind her, Indra stands out as she rips through Perisher’s front valley park, a glimpse of the well-rounded, multi discipline athlete she could become.
When asked what’s next on the cards, Indra shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
“More comps, keep practicing and just enjoying what I’m doing.”
“Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.”
Beyond her wise words, it's proof that a genuine love and passion for skiing still sits underneath everything she does. That, and a morning routine that’s dialled in.
“My non-negotiable for the morning of a competition is a great breakfast. You gotta stay fueled if you want to act right.”
After an epic debut season on the FIS World Cup tour and a standout Olympic Games, we can't wait to see what the future holds for Indra Brown.
