Lavinia Chrystal started skiing at age three and began racing at age 12. She trained with the Thredbo Ski Racing Club during her junior career while living and going to school in Sydney.

A specialist of technical disciplines, Chrystal took out the Australian National Championships titles six times during her skiing career, winning four slalom and two giant slalom titles between 2009 and 2015.

Her best international season came in 2014, when at the age of 24 she made her debut in the FIS Alpine World Cup at Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) shortly before joining the Australian Olympic team in Sochi for the 2014 Winter Games. In Russia she competed in the Slalom and Giant Slalom, finishing 32nd and 40th respectively. 

Chrystal represented Australia also in two World Championships, in 2011 and 2015, her last competitive season.

As of 2022, Chrystal lives and works in Norway. She has a Bachelor of Economic and Social Sciences from University of Sydney and a Master in International Business.
