Snowboard Cross Emerging Talent Camp at Mt Hotham

Published Fri 29 Aug 2025

Snow Australia is pleased to announce the upcoming Emerging Talent Program (ETP) and Pathway Snowboard Cross (SBX) Camp, set to take place at Mount Hotham from 31 August to 6 September 2025.

The camp represents an important step in strengthening the performance pathway for Snowboard Cross in Australia, providing ETP athletes with access to quality on-snow training, technical development, and alignment with the NSWIS SBX program.

Thanks to the support of Mt Hotham, and in collaboration with OWIA coaches Harald Benselin and Jan Klemsa, the SBX track has been prepared to provide the ideal training environment.

The week-long camp will maximise use of the world-class course, giving athletes valuable exposure to high-level competition skills.

Athletes will take part in daily on-snow sessions and video reviews, with a program focused on:

  • SBX starts

  • Carving and edge control

  • Race tactics

  • Jump execution

  • Heat racing strategy

The camp will also highlight the integration of developing coaches into the pathway. Former NSWIS SBX scholarship holder, Kobi Dent, who transitioned from athlete to coach earlier this year, will lead the camp alongside NSWIS coach Jackson Holtham. Kobi’s experience, discipline, and respect as an athlete are now being channelled into coaching as he begins this next stage of his snow sport journey.

Invited athletes from the SBX Emerging Talent Program and select pathway athletes will attend, with the initiative designed to mirror the alignment between NSWIS and OWIA teams, strengthening connections across all levels of the pathway.

Snow Australia acknowledges Mt Hotham for its pivotal role in supporting SBX in Australia, with this camp showcasing the importance of collaboration between venues, coaches, and pathway programs to develop the next generation of Australian Snowboard Cross athletes.
