Snow Australia Launches Freeride FUTURES 2025 to Inspire the Next Generation of Freeriders
Published Fri 11 Jul 2025
Snow Australia is launching its first ever Freeride FUTURES program, set to debut alongside the Freeride World Tour Junior (FWT Junior) event at Mt Hotham this July.
Held in partnership with Mt Hotham, the Freeride World Tour and leaders of the Australian Freeride community, the Freeride FUTURES offers junior competitors a unique opportunity to ride alongside the nation’s top freeride athletes and coaches. The event is scheduled for Sunday, 27 July, with a backup date of Saturday, 26 July if weather impacts the FWT Junior competition.
Open to all registered participants in the Mt Hotham Junior Freeride events, Freeride FUTURES provides invaluable technical coaching, education on line selection, judging criteria, competition preparation, and a deep dive into the freeride pathway, including how to progress toward the FIS Freeride World Tour.
In addition to on-snow coaching, the program includes:
-
Insights from Snow Australia and Freeride World Tour development staff
-
Safety education and freeride discipline knowledge
-
A Snow Australia FUTURES T-shirt
Designed for strong skiers and snowboarders aged 9–18, this initiative ensures promising young athletes have the tools and mentorship to thrive on challenging terrain and progress through the freeride pathway.
