The Snow Australia Board met on 10 September 2026 to discuss organisational priorities, athlete pathways, governance, integrity, facilities, and future opportunities for the sport. Here are the key outcomes from the meeting.

Organisational update
The Board received an update on Snow Australia’s organisational structure, including changes to General Manager roles and ongoing work to strengthen support across Interschools, clubs, community participation, and high-performance pathways.

Sport and athlete pathways
The National Freestyle Committee presented its long-term vision for the sport, focusing on stronger athlete pathways, increased access to year-round training, greater support for coaches and officials, and closer collaboration with resorts and training facilities.

An update on the ongoing establishment of an Athlete Committee was provided, which will strengthen athlete representation and provide a direct voice into Snow Australia’s decision-making processes.

Governance and planning
As part of the Board’s commitment to continuous improvement, the results of the Annual Board Survey were reviewed with discussions on how to further strengthen board effectiveness and governance.

The Board also considered the proposed 2027 Board meeting schedule and annual work plan.

Integrity and wellbeing
The Whistleblower Policy was approved, subject to minor amendments before publication.

Integrity initiatives were discussed, including education programs, complaint management, and preparation for upcoming national policy changes. It was agreed that future board reporting will include greater visibility of mandatory integrity training and compliance outcomes.

Events, facilities and safety
The Board acknowledged the successful delivery of Interschools events despite challenging weather conditions and discussed opportunities to minimise the impact of future weather-related disruptions.

An update was provided on the NSTC rail line project, including progress on funding, design, procurement, and plans for summer construction.

The upcoming opening of the Biathlon Clubhouse was note as well as the encouraging participation across recent cross-country community activities.

Commercial and future opportunities
An update was provided on current commercial and sponsorship discussions, as well as potential hosting of future international event opportunities in Australia, including more sustainable and cost-effective event models.
