Perisher hosts Subaru ACT-Southern NSW Interschools Championships

Students from 150 schools across ACT and Southern NSW came together at Perisher this week for the Subaru ACT-Southern NSW Interschools Championships.

With more than 2500 entries across the duration of the event, it was a great celebration of snowsports, the skill of the next generation and the Interschools spirit.

Joe Livissianos from Jindabyne High School competed in his last Regional Championships, having competed in the event since Year 1.

“It's been really fun. The weather has definitely been all over the place…definitely been sunny, windy, a little bit of everything,” Livissianos said.

“But it's been really fun. All the courses have been actually really enjoyable, which is great. And yeah, just good to ski with people and compete against each other,” he said.

Over his time competing in the Interschools, he has competed in all disciplines, but Moguls and Snowboard Giant Slalom are his favourites.

“Well, firstly, it's (Interschools) helped me learn to snowboard. At a younger age, they needed a team, and that's how I learnt to snowboard,” Livissianos said.

“So even if you're not a good skier or snowboarder, it's definitely a good way to learn. It's also good to compete and just get out and about on the slopes with all your mates, all your friends. 

“It's also good to have that competitive spirit and push yourself to see if you enjoy it, if there's something you want to do in the future. This is definitely the best path to go down,” he said.
