National SkiMo Committee Update: Looking Ahead and Welcoming New Members

Hello SkiMo Enthusiasts,
As winter finally begins to set in and snow starts to fall across the Australian Alps it’s time to prep your skins, fine tune those edges and start practicing your transitions for a huge season of Aus Skimo.
Following on from Phil Bellingham and Lara Hamilton's history making performances at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, we are looking forward to an amazing season filled with races and clinics across three resorts and two states. Before looking ahead, it would be great to once again spotlight the stunning results of Lara and Phil who both competed at the inaugural Ski Mountaineering event in Bormio during the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Phil stunned in the Sprint coming away with a semi-final appearance and a 12th place finish while Lara showed true grit finishing 18th in challenging conditions. Both gave everything they could to the Mixed Relay two days later and combined for a strong 12th place finish making us all proud as they made history.
With the growth of the sport and the new events across the season we are looking to expand the Aus SkiMo National Discipline Committee and welcome new members. As we draw our attention to the Australian snow season, which is currently knocking on the door of opening weekend, these are the three dates for our upcoming events and their locations for you to lock into the calendar
2026 SkiMo Event Calendar
- Perisher - Skimo Festival- 8th - 9th August
- Falls Creek - Skimo Race - 16th August
- Hotham - 28th - 30th August (Part of the the Australian Backcountry Festival)
We can't wait to see both returning athletes and newcomers across our three events learning and competing in this amazing sport.
