National Alpine Museum Australia - Call for Olympic and Paralympic Stories

Published Tue 19 May 2026

NAMA is an independent volunteer run and operated museum with a focus on the stories of Australia's alpine regions. Their latest Touring Exhibition is called 'Stories from the Games' and focuses what goes on behind the camera, the big and small stories from athletes, coaches, officials, families and friends as told by a single photo.

Stories from the Games

Athletes, coaches, photographers, officials, family and members of the crowd are asked to share their Winter Olympic and Paralympic story through a single photograph. Come behind the scenes and behind the lens and discover the big and small stories from the Games.

The request: We invite you to contribute (or respond to) a single photo with a story of between 80-200 words that gives an insight into your Winter Olympic or Paralympic story. The aim is for visitors to experience the Games in a way that's different to what they see in the media and is highly personal and engaging.

Look, Feel & Where: Photographic exhibition that can be displayed either physically or digitally at ski resorts across Australia during the 2026 Winter. Inspiring the new generation and getting people excited to participate in winter sports.

How to contribute: Send your photo and story to NAMA Curator Dr Michelle Stevenson curator@nama.org.au by Thursday 4th June or Friday 26th June. If you didn’t take the photo and it’s come from a press photographer let us know so we can sort out the rights. We’ll send you a copy of the final artwork for your records.

Example Story

Candid Moments

I got to shoot Zali during her Bronze medal winning run in the slalom in brilliant sunshine, and later at the medal ceremony – when appropriately for Australia’s first individual Winter Olympic Medal it rained! But some of my favourite photos are from a few days later, when we went out walking through the streets of Nagano around Zenkoji Temple. I was able to capture some candid shots of Zali connecting with the local community and her excitement in showing off her medal. Then a Nagano local took one of us and posted it to me!
