Junior Moguls Stars Soar at Perisher

The NSW Freestyle Junior Series moved to Perisher over the weekend, bringing together more than 75 emerging athletes across youth and junior divisions for two days of high-energy moguls competition.

Held at Blue Cow on the Mogul Matt’s Course, named after Olympic silver medallist Matt Graham, the event is designed to bridge grassroots participation with elite-level skiing. Athletes competed in both single and dual moguls formats, showcasing their skills in turns, aerials, and speed while vying for the title of NSW Junior Mogul Champion.

In the women’s junior single moguls, Kayleigh Yap led the field with a commanding 81.41 points, followed by Ruby Kite and Kareema Wakim. Eliza Walker took out the women’s youth category with 67.71 points, edging out Victoria Jones and Billie Paxton. On the men’s side, Angus Kite topped the junior division with 77.87 points, ahead of Callum Cook and Hugh Buttling, while Max Cook claimed the youth title with 60.66 points, followed by Edward Mason and Samuel Brooks.

Day two’s dual moguls saw several podium repeats. Kareema Wakim edged out Kayleigh Yap for the women’s junior win, with Ruby Kite got the win over Eliza Peake for third. Eliza Walker and Billie Paxton again led the youth field finishing first and second respectfully, while Victoria Jones secured third. In the men’s junior event, Milo Davies triumphed over Tor Paxton, with Hugh Buttling defeating Cooper Cook for third. Max Cook continued his winning streak in the youth category, ahead of Teddy Madson and Ben Hodgkinson who won the minor final over Luca Kingham.
