It’s time to get packing with Sami Kennedy-Sim!

The temperature is heating up as summer sets in down under. I hope you have been getting your Snow Ready sessions in (You haven’t? No big deal.. It is never too late to start!)
So for those of you with some snow time coming up - It is time to get packing!
By now your flights are booked, insurance (should be) sorted and you will be starting to think about what to pack. We all know that our winter threads are suitcase staples, but what should you be taking on the plane with you?
Sami’s Carry on essentials:
- Compression Socks/Stockings – Reduce the chance of DVT on long haul flights by investing in a pair of compression tights or stocking for the plane (and they are great at speeding up recovery post ski or board too!)
- An Empty Water Bottle - Preferably something durable, even with a carabiner attached to clip to your bag
- Electrolyte tablets - Dehydration makes jet lag worse, so keep some electrolytes handy to pop in that bottle!
- SNACKS - A variety of snacks is vital. I find some airplane food….is unpalatable… so mixed nuts, chips, chocolate and sandwiches are a go to for me.
- A neck pillow - No one wants to have a crook neck on arrival, a memory foam neck pillow has saved me over the years!
- Noise cancelling headphones or earplugs - No explanation needed!
- Spare outfit – Things happen, bags go missing. Don’t get caught out at your destination in negative temperatures without a change of clothes.
- Lightweight puffer jacket - Calgary airport can be -20… a brutal contrast to the +35 in Sydney!
- iPad/Book - With enough entertainment to get you through the flight (and you can download the Snow Ready Movement Toolkit for some layover stretches!)
- Ski Boots - If you are taking your own gear and plan to hit the snow upon arrival, take your boots on the plane too. They are the one bit of equipment that is hard to borrow (comfort is everything!) Check your airlines luggage policy too, some ski bags come with a FREE boot back (extra luggage is always a win!)
For those of you lucky enough to be swapping the sun for snow these holidays, where are you going? Tag @snowaus on Instagram and share your holiday snaps with us!
Merry Christmas!
