Future Stars Shine at the 2026 Australian Alpine Children's Championships
Published Thu 03 Sep 2026
The next generation of Australian alpine skiing talent was on display at Falls Creek as athletes from across the country competed in the 2026 Australian Children's Championships.
Across four Giant Slalom races and four Slalom races, competitors aged under 14 and under 16 delivered outstanding performances in challenging conditions, showcasing the depth of talent emerging throughout Australia's alpine pathway. Unfortunately, snow conditions meant the scheduled Ski Cross events could not be held, however the Championships still delivered a fantastic week of racing and competition.
The standout performer of the Championships was Indie Carson (Mt Buller Race Club), who completed a remarkable clean sweep of the Under 14 Girls category, winning all four Giant Slalom races and all four Slalom races. Her consistency throughout the week set the benchmark for the field and highlighted her strength across both disciplines.
In the Under 14 Boys division, Loki Davis (Thredbo Ski Racing Club) dominated the technical events, claiming victory in three Giant Slalom races and all four Slalom races. He was consistently challenged by Tom Salvo (Mt Buller Race Club), Banjo Brauer (Thredbo Ski Racing Club) and Findlay Hopkins (Perisher Winter Sports Club), who all featured prominently on the podium throughout the week.
The Under 16 Girls category produced some of the closest racing of the Championships. Race victories were shared between Annie Gould (Falls Creek Race Club), Lina Lackner (Falls Creek Race Club), Lilly Brauer (Thredbo Ski Racing Club) and Ella Pearce (Mt Buller Race Club), with podium positions changing regularly throughout the week. Falls Creek athletes also enjoyed strong performances from Emma Wang, Bowie Whittle and Coco Thomas, contributing to a successful home championship for the host club.
The Under 16 Boys field saw Zephyr Lusted (Thredbo Ski Racing Club) emerge as the dominant racer of the Championships. After winning three Giant Slalom races and all four Slalom races, Lusted finished the week as one of the event's most successful athletes. Teammates William Thompson, Jack Philpott and Julian Sweeney-Ramasundara, along with Louis Sanderson (Mt Buller Race Club), consistently featured among the leading contenders in a highly competitive category.
Snow Australia extends its sincere thanks to Falls Creek, Falls Creek Race Club, officials, volunteers, coaches and families whose efforts ensured another successful Australian Children's Championships. The commitment and hard work of the Falls Creek community allowed athletes to enjoy a memorable week of racing.
Congratulations to all athletes who competed throughout the week and contributed to another outstanding edition of the Australian Children's Championships.
