2025 Falls Creek Schools Carnival and AMASDF Time Trials a Success
Published Fri 01 Aug 2025
This week, Falls Creek hosted the annual Falls Creek Schools Carnival, with 144 students taking part from 16 schools. The event featured a wide range of individual and team competitions open to school-aged athletes, including the Amelia McGuiness Foundation Time Trials.
Competitors from Greater Hume, South West NSW, and nearby Victorian schools participated over seven disciplines: Alpine, Snowboard Giant Slalom, Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross, Moguls, Cross Country Classic, and Cross Country Relay, with over 450 event entries across the 4-day Schools Carnival.
A sincere thank you goes out to the school coordinators, team managers, and volunteer course officials for their invaluable support of the event. Special appreciation is also extended to Falls Creek Lift Management and the Race Department for their efforts in hosting the event and ensuring the smooth operation of all courses.
One of the highlights of the week was the Amelia McGuiness Australian Snowsports Development Foundation’s (AMASDF) largest annual fundraiser, the Amelia Time Trials, which saw 79 athletes compete.
Each year, AMASDF awards scholarships funded by its events to support emerging talent in the snowsports community. Recognised across the industry for its commitment to young athletes, the foundation has awarded $237,360 in scholarships since 2010. This achievement has only been possible through the continued support of schools, resorts, families, businesses, and individual donors.
These funds have helped support an impressive lineup of rising stars—many of whom have gone on to compete at the Winter Olympics.
At this year’s Time Trials, the 2025 AMASDF Scholarship recipients were officially announced. Congratulations to the following athletes:
· Liana France
· Alana Hunt
· Florence Roberts
· Isla Harriss
· Jaxon Beeton
