About SSA

Who is Ski & Snowboard Australia?

Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) is the nationally and internationally recognised National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for competitive snow sports in Australia by virtue of its affiliations with the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS), the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) and the recognition of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).

SSA manages athlete pathways, conducts events and programs in Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, Snowboarding, Para-alpine, Para-snowboard and specialty sub discipline activities within each. 

SSA has the overarching responsibility for the entire national athlete pathway, from entry level through to elite, across all disciplines. To meet this responsibility, SSA engages with many different organisations including ski resorts, Federal & State Governments, State Sporting Organisations, Clubs, sporting institutes and industry peak bodies.

To support snowsport athletes and develop champions.

 

SnowID

What is a SnowID?

Members of SSA have a unique SnowID This unique SnowID is provided upon registering as a member. Having an active SnowID has many benefits, such as:

- Allows for tracking of Live Timing and Results

- Allows for historical data to be tracked to your account

- Is used as an identification for international events (evidence of being a current member of SSA)

- Is needed for Interschools events

How do I get a SnowID?

You can get a SnowID by registering as member of SSA. There are various different membership types. Please refer to the "Membership" section of the FAQ for more information on how to register.

I've forgotten my SnowID, how do I find it?

If you are already a member and have forgotten your SnowID, you can search for it here. Please note, you only need to input your first and last name.

 

Membership

Why can't I log in to my account?

Only current members can access their membership portal and account. If you have been a member in the past, you will need to renew your membership to gain access to your account. Refer below on how to renew. Please keep in mind that the Membership year begins on May 1 and closes April 30 the following year. 

For example, If you registered 5 June 2018 and try to log in on 5 May 2019, you will not be able to access your account because your membership will now be inactive as the membership year has closed and reopened for the new season, therefore needing to renew your membership for the new season. If you are unsure of your membership status refer to the "Am I a current member?" FAQ below.

How do I log in to my account?

If you are a current member and have registered, you should have access to your account.

You can log in by clicking here or clicking on the top right "login" button on the webpage. You will need your username and password to log in.

I've forgotten my password, how can I reset it?

You can reset your password by clicking here and following the prompts. Please note an email with further instructions will be sent to the email that is attached to your account. 

Am I a current member?

If you are unsure on whether you are a current member or not, you can refer to the SnowID Finder here.

How do I register as a NEW member?

You can register as a new member by clicking here and selecting which membership is most appropriate to you. Please ensure that you are 100% sure that you have not previously been a member, if you have, please renew your membership. There are many different membership types, to find out more about the types of membership, click here.

How do I RENEW my membership?

If you have been a member in the past, you can renew your membership by clicking here and selecting which membership is most appropriate to you. Please ensure that you select renew when you go through the membership renewal process. There are many different membership types, to find out more about the types of membership, click here.

What is the SSA membership season?

The Ski & Snowboard Australia Membership year begins on May 1 and closes April 30 the following year.

 

Event Registration

How do I register for an event?

Some events require that you are an active member or have a certain level of membership. Ie. in order to register for the water ramp, you must be a financial member of SSA.

 

Competing?

Are you competing during the southern winter season?

If you are competing domestically/during the southern winter season, all you need is a current SSA membership that is appropriate to the event you are participating in.

Are you thinking of competing overseas?

If you are intending on competing internationally during the northern winter there are 3 key requirements you need to have met or completed. More information can be found on our dedicated competing overseas webpage.

  1. Membership & Registration
    • Ensure that you have a current SSA membership
    • Refer to the "membership" FAQ section for more information on SSA membership
  2. International Competition License & Competition Insurance
    • Have relevant competition insurance and then;
    • Register for an ICL here
  3. Event Entry & Expression of Interest (EOI)
    • The SSA Office manages FIS event entries during the northern winter. All competitors are required to submit an expression of interest (EOI) to the SSA Office listing the events they would like to be considered for during the northern winter. SSA will then compile the entries and apply the respective discipline quota, criteria and allocation policy. All qualified and non-qualified athletes and respective coaches will be updated of their entry status prior to the entry deadline. What Insurance should I get?

SSA suggests that members conduct their own research and decide on insurance that best suits them. SSA are aware of Ski Insurance and BUPA Global as inusrance providers that satisfy the requirements of FIS competition rules.

Futures

What is Futures?

SSA Futures is a Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) athlete development and talent identification program. SSA Futures has a vision to enhance the opportunities and resources for athletes in the SSA athlete pathway.

 

Snowracer

What is Snowracer?

Snowracer is a centralised platform for information, resources and engagement. The platform includes live timing and live scoring of Australian snowsports events. 

What is a Snowracer membership?

A Snowracer membership is a FREE membership that provides the member with an unique active SnowID. A Snowracer membership also includes FREE Snowracer insurance.

How does Live Timing/Scoring work?

Live timing and live scoring uses the atlhetes unique active SnowID to trace and track live events and past results.

What is Snowracer Insurance?

All those with a current SnowID be it through Snowracer, Interschools or your SSA membership are provided with FREE insurance cover while competing in Australia. This insurance is for non-medical expenses to the value of $500 and covers items such as refunds for your entry fee and lift tickets, lost accommodation or car repatriation. More details regarding the policy is available here.

What is Snow Equipment Cover?

Snow Equipment Cover provides insurance against theft and/or damage to ski's, snowboard, boots, bindings etc both domestically and internationally.

Whether you work in the snow, ski/board just for fun or compete at any level Snow Equipment Cover is available to you. Simply log in or sign up as a Snowracer member (a Snowracer membership is free of charge) member and follow the prompts to purchase Snow Equipment cover ($39.90).

Little Shredders

What is Little Shredders?

Little Shredders is an off-snow participation product developed by Ski and Snowboard Australia that brings the basics of snowsports to primary schools and community organisations across Australia. The program utilises custom-made modified equipment built specifically for use in the school yard, and is an introductory program that teaches children the fundamental skills and knowledge to prepare them for an on-snow experience.
