Biathlon Australia Laser Biathlon Schools Event 

Divisions 4 and 5

Date: Thursday 20 August 2026

Where: Perisher Valley Biathlon Range

Bib Pick-up: from 8.15am at NPWS building (near Wilderness Sports)

Course Inspection: from 8.30am

Event Start Time: 9.00am

Cost: $50 per entry (includes GST)

Entries Close: Friday 14th August at 11pm

Presentation:To be held at the conclusion of the race in the NPWS Centre. Timing to be advised. (Ideally at 11am) 

Racing Format:

• XC skate technique (classic permitted).
• Interval start. 
• Division 4 and 5 will use 10m laser systems. A coach will be stationed at each mat, for athletes who have not used a rifle before.
• Competitors will ski loops and laser shoot, determined by Division.
• Competitors will stay at the Range until they hit all 5 targets or until a coach has told you to go. 
• No penalty loops will be skied for missing targets. The time taken to shoot will act as a penalty.
• Medals will be awarded to place-getters.

Schools Competition: A School's Cup will be awarded to the overall primary school and the overall high school that achieves the highest point score using a combination of participation and racing results. 

Laser Training Sessions: Paid laser training sessions will be available on Monday 17 August and Wednesday 19 August 2026 between 1pm and 4pm in 90 mins blocks. Thesse are available via the Biathlon Australia website via this link: https://www.biathlonaustralia.com.au/events/369494 

XC Skiing Training Sessions:Entrants must be able to XC ski. Please book in to a XC and biathlon coaching session (link above) to understand your XC skiing requirements.
