Thredbo Mountain Academy (TMA)

Thredbo Mountain Academy is an on-snow program for skiers and snowboarders looking to develop their on-snow skills. The expert coaches at TMA have created a fun filled environment where participants can develop confidence and competence across the mountain. Primarily focused on freeski and freeride, this mutli-discipline program focuses on skill development and maximum mountain exposure, covering Snowboardcross, Park Ski and Board, Ski Cross, Moguls and Alpine. Participants in these programs compete in Thredbo Resort events and some Snow Australia sanctioned events. With a ‘Train to Train’ approach, coaches foster an environment that allows athletes to enjoy the mountain and develop skills across their chosen discipline.

TMA activity is not only on the mountain, with the programs utilising the Thredbo Leisure Centres’ trampolines, rock climbing, gym and pool regularly. Freeride athletes have regular training sessions at the Snow Australia National Snowsports Training Centre in Jindabyne, where they work on new tricks on the airbag and take those tricks to snow in the same day.

Thredbo engages motivated and passionate coaches, many who return to Thredbo each season. The resort provides many training opportunities for their coaches to ensure a great experience for their athletes. Many program participants are keen to pursue a career in snowsports and Thredbo provide opportunities through its Seasonal Programs for participants to sit their instructing levels.

Thredbo has a huge amount of terrain on offer for all ages and abilities. This exciting resort is the winter playground to Thredbo Seasonal Program participants as well as elite athletes Josie Baff, Jarryd Hughes, Abi Harrigan, Ben Tudhope, Tess Coady and Valentino Guseli.
