Perisher to Host Snow Australia SkiMo Festival 2025

Perisher will come alive on 20-21 September as athletes gather for the Snow Australia SkiMo Festival 2025, delivered in partnership with Perisher Resort.
The festival marks another exciting milestone for Ski Mountaineering (SkiMo), one of the fastest-growing winter sports which is set to make its Olympic debut at Milano-Cortina 2026. Following the success of Australia’s first SkiMo race held at Falls Creek in August, anticipation is building for this second national event which will showcase the sport to a broader audience.
Across two days of racing, athletes of all ages and abilities will test themselves in SkiMo’s signature disciplines. Saturday will see the Vertical Race, before Sunday’s Mini-Individual race brings competitors together for a mass-start battle featuring multiple climbs and descents on a looped course.
Snow Australia Skimo Committee Chair Brian Lichi highlighted that there is something for everyone across the two races.
"We couldn't be more excited to deliver another SkiMo event and this time at Perisher Resort,” Lichi said.
“With two races set across the weekend, a Vertical and Mini-Individual, there is racing available for everyone, and we are looking forward to seeing registrations come in up until the day of the event.
“Capital Brewing Co have been lovely enough to provide some prizes for the female and male winners of each event, and we are grateful for their support of this inaugural event."
With categories for Open, Masters and Youth competitors, the festival is open to all Snow Australia members and represents a unique chance to be part of a sport on the rise.
