Snow Australia Announces Formation of National Freeride Committee

Published Fri 09 Oct 2026

Expressions of Interest Now Open

Snow Australia is pleased to announce the formation of a new National Freeride Committee (NFC), marking an important step in the continued growth and development of freeride skiing and snowboarding in Australia.

With freeride continuing to expand both domestically and internationally, the establishment of a dedicated committee will help provide strategic direction, strengthen community engagement, and support the ongoing development of the discipline across all levels of the sport.

The National Freeride Committee will operate in accordance with Snow Australia's governance framework and will serve as an advisory committee to Snow Australia and its Board.

What Does the National Freeride Committee Do?

The National Freeride Committee will play an important role in supporting the growth and success of freeride in Australia.  Its key responsibilities include:

  • Providing advice on the strategic development of freeride pathways and programs.

  • Contributing to discipline-specific policies and initiatives.

  • Supporting participation, athlete development, performance and event opportunities.

  • Bringing together perspectives from athletes, coaches, clubs, officials, event organisers and the broader freeride community.

  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen the discipline and improve engagement across the sport.

  • Acting as a forum for collaboration between Snow Australia, athletes and the freeride community.

The Committee does not manage the day-to-day operations of the discipline, but instead provides advice, guidance and industry expertise to assist Snow Australia in decision-making and long-term planning.
