6 Months on from Milano-Cortina | Mia Clift

Six months on from making her Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026, snowboard cross athlete Mia Clift is back into the rhythm of training and preparing for another season on the World Cup circuit.

At just 21, Clift competed in both the Women’s Snowboard Cross and Mixed Team Snowboard Cross, finishing 12th in the individual event and eighth alongside Jarryd Hughes in the mixed team. While the experience of competing at her first Olympic Winter Games was one she will always remember, the result did not quite match the expectations she had set for herself.

“It was my first Games, which was a really cool experience,” Clift said.

“I feel like I did go in with expectations, and unfortunately, I didn’t really meet them which was pretty sad.

“Outside of that, it was a lot of fun and a really great experience, and I was so happy to get to watch Josie win and support her through that.”

Now, she’s back home and into her routines that helped her put together an outstanding 2025 season, where Clift claimed World Cup silver and bronze and a World Championship silver medal in the Mixed Team event alongside Cam Bolton. She went on to finish eighth in the 2025-26 World Cup standings, matching her result from the previous season.

Now, with the Northern Hemisphere season approaching, Clift is embracing a reset and looking forward to another opportunity to compete at the highest level.

“I feel like I’m just resetting after the last season,” she said.

“It’s been nice to be home for a bit and get into the rhythm of just training and getting back on the board.

“I’m excited to have another season ahead and I’m hoping to get a few podiums and finish a bit higher this year.”

As she looks towards the next chapter, Clift is taking one important lesson with her, to keep enjoying the sport.

“Always be in your play state, which essentially means to always have fun, because if you’re doing that, then that’s normally when you perform the best.”
