35 Athletes Shine at Multiclass and Special Olympics Event

The spirit of participation and achievement was on full display at the Multiclass and Special Olympics Event held on 24 July at Perisher during the ACT-Southern NSW Interschools Championships.

35 Participants took on the Alpine and Snowboard GS course in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Thank you to 6 time Winter Paralympian Michael Milton who fore-ran the course and was on hand to present medals to the participants after the event. Members of Snow Australia’s ETP team an other pathway athletes also took part in the event.

The next Multiclass and Special Olympics event is on Wednesday August 19 at the NSW/ACT/QLD Interschools Championships at Perisher. the Multiclass Event provides a supportive and exciting environment to challenge yourself, make new connections and enjoy the thrill of snow sports competition.

On September 4, we welcome athletes from Victoria, as well as those that have already participated in an NSW multiclass event this season, to the National multiclass event at Perisher. 


 

About the Multiclass Event

The Multiclass and Special Olympics events provide an opportunity for people with physical, intellectual and visual impairments to experience competitive snow sports and participate at either a recreational or competitive level.

Participants can compete in either Alpine or Snowboard GS.

The event welcomes competitors from kindergarten through to adults who are no longer at school.

Multiclass events mirror the structure of Interschools competitions, with divisions based on both school year and gender with award categories for Intellectual and Physical disabilities.
