Falls Creek On Snow Camp

11-14 July, 2024

CAMP DETAILS

This VICXC camp at Falls Creek is a residential camp, including skiing and dryland training activities and educational sessions. This camp is primarily for VIC XC athletes 15 to 20 year old, however if there is capacity additional places may be available to NSWXC athletes and athletes outside this age group.

Dates: Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th July (Arrival at Howmans Gap on Thursday from 3:30pm)
Locations: Falls Creek
Camp Schedule: Dependant on snow and weather conditions. Morning sessions will be 9am-11:00am depending on conditions and afternoon sessions will be 3pm-4pm. There will be educational sessions after dinner on some evenings.

Thursday: Coaching available for a skate session for those who can make it Thursday morning 9:30am. Afternoon, move in and introduction & short jog/active movement with stretching Evening: Review of plans

Friday: Morning distance classic ski with technique sessions. Afternoon skate skills, games and challengers. Evening core & stretch, talk & quiz show. 

Saturday: If event cancelled: Morning distance skate mixed with some drills/treasure hunt. Afternoon practical classic ski & wax test theory. Evening core & stretch plus talks, ski preparation  

Sunday: Morning Birkenbiner Classic Ski Race or if cancelled interval including wax prep, warm up, session and cool down

Accommodation: At Howmans Gap. It is not mandatory to stay with the team if you live locally or have other accommodation but there are some important sessions planned for the evenings. There are 18 places for athletes available.  

Catering: Thursday dinner, Friday & Saturday breakfast, lunch & dinner, Sunday breakfast & lunch. Athletes will need to bring additional training snacks.

Transport between sessions: Transport will be provided by coaches and designated parent volunteers.
Cost: $550 (Accommodation & food $400, Camp Costs $150, Camp costs for National Team members on year-round training plans $100)

Membership: Participants must have current VICXC SKI TEAM membership.
Register: Please register by Friday 5th July to confirm your place on the camp.

Further details will be provided in the lead-in to the camp.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

Any athletes exhibiting any cold / flu or other Covid-19 symptoms should not travel to attend this camp, nor attend any sessions if symptoms develop during the camp. More details will be provided to all participants leading into the camp.
