| Park & Pipe Community Update - May 2026 |
Hey Park and Pipe Community!
What an amazing few months it has been.
The International Snow Season has officially come to a close with the final events concluding in April.
An incredible season, filled with fantastic results across the board. This season saw our Park & Pipe junior athletes reaching top performances and personal bests, and high-performance athletes smashing their way to the top at events including World Cup, Junior World Championships and the Winter Olympic Games.
Finishing up the season in the Park & Pipe Freeski world, Indra Brown finished with two top 10 performances at the Tignes and Silvaplana World Cups, coming 4th in Big Air and 6th in Halfpipe respectively. This saw Indra placed 2nd in Overall Freeski Halfpipe World Cup Standing, and 3rd in the Overall Freeski Park & Pipe World Cup Standing. A truly inspiring result for this talented young athlete competing in her first World Cup Season!
In the Vars, France Big Air European Cup (EC), Angus Falconer and Joey Ellis, stomped their way to 10th and 11th place respectively. Aidan Laing also competing in France in the Slopestyle Event placing 11th. Angus Falconer finished off his season at the St Anton, Austria Big Air EC finishing 11th as well.
The Corvatch, Switzerland EC was a fantastic event for young athletes Maya and Hugo Broadbent. Competing in both Freeski Slopestyle and Big Air, Maya smashed her way to 2nd for Slopestyle, and finished her campaign with the Gold Medal in Big Air. Alongside Hugo, who competed against a stacked field of competitors and landed in 10th place in the Men’s Freeski Slopestyle event. Fantastic results for both athletes!
The FIS Park & Pipe Junior World Championships, hosted in Calgary Canada, saw amazing performances from all our Aussie athletes competing. In Freeski Slopestyle, Maya Broadbent landed on the podium in 3rd place, followed by another 3rd in the Big Air event. Indra Brown, competed in Slopestyle, Big Air, and Halfpipe, placing 4th and 5th, and finishing it off with the Halfpipe Gold Medal. LETS GO!
Additionally, for our Junior Snowboard Park & Pipe Athletes, top performances included Marie-Jeanne Purwanto’s 11th place in Women’s Halfpipe, and James Garth making his way into the Top 10, placing 9th in Men’s Slopestyle. Congratulations again to all Junior Athletes who competed at this high standard event! Over to Snowboard Park & Pipe, World Cup Athletes Valentino Guseli, Mela Stalker, and Tess Coady competed in the Flachau, Austria Slopestyle event. Val finishing in 9th place in the Men’s competition, alongside Mela placing 9th for the Women’s and Tess placing 4th! Val also competed in both the Sapporo, Japan and Silvaplana, Switzerland Halfpipe events, landing his way to 2nd place in both competitions! Val finished up the season placed 2nd in the Snowboard Halfpipe, and Overall Snowboard Park & Pipe World Cup Standings. Fantastic results from Val!
Hayden Jacobs, finished up his season competing in St Anton’s Junior Snowboard Slopestyle event, placing 7th, followed by the LAAX Kids Open Slopestyle and Halfpipe events where he finished in 7th once again, and took home the Silver Medal in Men's Snowboard Halfpipe! Congratulations Hayden! LAAX also hosted its European Cup soon after, where Jess McGregor smashed her way to 4th in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle event. With the Australian Winter Season just around the corner, many more events will soon be upon us all. We cannot wait to see how the Park & Pipe athletes develop and progress over this coming domestic season.

| Debut Season and Second Overall Standing?! |
Teenage ski sensation Indra Brown has capped off her debut World Cup season with an impressive second‑place overall ranking, following a sixth‑place finish at the final event in Silvaplana, Switzerland.
Brown finished the season ranked second on the FIS Overall Park & Pipe World Cup standings, which includes results from Halfpipe, Slopestyle and Big Air.
Brown’s end‑of‑season ranking is the best ever by an Australian winter sports athlete in their first World Cup season, highlighted by three World Cup podiums including a victory, a silver medal at her debut X Games, and a fifth‑place final finish in her first Olympic Winter Games.

Valentino Guseli claimed his fifth podium of the season at the Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup final in Silvaplana, Switzerland, with a silver medal performance, capping an impressive comeback season after missing the previous year through injury.
In the best of two-run final, the 20-year-old NSWIS rider had a fall on his opening run, but responded strongly with a spectacular second run, to post a score of 91 points and second place.

Japan’s Yuto Totsuka and Mitsuki Ono claimed home halfpipe victories at the Sapporo Open on Sunday based on their dominant qualification performances, after the finals were cancelled due to heavy snow.
Australia’s Valentino Guseli was runner-up after posting his best score of 89.00 in Friday’s qualifications, while Milano Cortina 2026 bronze medallist Ryusei Yamada was third on 85.50 points. read more >

Australia’s next generation of park and pipe athletes delivered a series of standout performances at the 2026 Park & Pipe Junior World Championships in Calgary, with one gold and two bronze medals highlighting a strong week of competition from 27 February to 7 March. read more > |
| Olympic Experience into Halfpipe Junior World Title |
Australia’s Indra Brown stormed to Freeski Halfpipe victory at the FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships in Calgary on Thursday, while U.S. skier Alexander Swedenborg dominated the men’s final to claim his first career victory.
Brown topped the women’s final at WinSport Canada Olympic Park after judges awarded her 92.00 for a clean top-to-bottom second run featuring a right cork 900 tail grab, a left side 720, a switch right 540, switch left 720, and an alley oop 540 on the last hit.
The 16-year-old was already leading the eight-woman final after posting a first-run score of 88.50 before Brown cleaned up her run in her second attempt to record the highest score of the day. read more > |
| 2026 Emerging Talent Program Athlete Announcement |
Snow Australia is pleased to announce the 80 athletes selected for the 2026 Emerging Talent Program (ETP), marking one of the largest and most diverse intakes in the program’s history.
The ETP plays a key role in identifying and nurturing Australia’s next generation of winter athletes, supporting their progression through their Discipline Pathway and preparing them for the demands of high‑performance sport.
All ETP athletes will unite later this month for the official Season Launch Camp at the NSTC in Jindabyne. The weekend will provide an opportunity for athletes to connect with one another and ETP coaches, while taking part in a mix of training sessions and team‑building activities.

| Indra Brown Awarded 2026 Junior Athlete of the Year |
After making her Olympic debut in Milan Cortina, 16-year-old Indra Brown caps off an incredible breakout season, taking out the award for Junior Athlete of the Year at the 2026 Snow Australia Awards, held in her home city of Melbourne in April.
In the 2025-2026 season, Brown broke onto the World Cup circuit, where she went on to claim three podium finishes in her first three events. Most notably, winning the Calgary World Cup halfpipe event.
Only turning 16 the week before the Olympic Games, the Melbourne school girl became the youngest member of the 2026 Australian Winter Olympic team. read more > |
After three and a half years serving as the National Snowsport Training Centre (NSTC) General Manager, Cathy Lambert is stepping away from her role at Snow Australia.
During her time with Snow Australia, Cathy oversaw a range of major projects and operational programs, including the Grand Opening of the new NSTC John Langley Hancock Building and the coordination and management of athlete and sport programs accessing and utilising the NSTC across multiple disciplines and pathway levels. read more > |
