Dear Snowboard Community,

The domestic snowboarding season is flying by, with plenty of activity already underway and even more still to come. This August, the two-week Snowboard Festival will take place across both Thredbo and Hotham, bringing together athletes from around the country for an exciting series of events.

The festival kicks off with the Alpine Snowboard FUTURES event on 3 August, followed by the Alpine Snowboard PGS Race and Snowboard Cross Junior Series races at Thredbo. The action then moves to Hotham, where competitors will take part in the Snowboard Cross FUTURES events on 10–11 August, the final Snowboard Cross Junior Series race of the season, and the Snowboard Cross FIS ANC competitions.

With so much happening across the resorts, we'd like to remind all participants to ensure they hold the appropriate membership for any activities they are involved in this season. Participation in FUTURES events requires a current financial membership, while competitors in FIS-sanctioned events must hold either a Snowboard National Racer or International Racer membership. Snow Australia has also recently released an updated Education Plan in partnership with Sport Integrity Australia. The plan outlines both the required and recommended education for members, clubs, programs and volunteers. With so much activity taking place throughout the season, we encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with these resources to better understand their responsibilities in fostering safe, inclusive and positive sporting environments.

In this edition, we're also highlighting two fantastic opportunities within our snow sports community:

The Chumpy Project, founded by Chris Pullin and delivered in partnership with the Mansfield Shire Youth, is now accepting applications. The program brings together local young people aged 15–17 for a transformative three-night, two-day workshop centred around the pillars of Character, Courage and Composure. Applications are now open and close on 7 August.

Women of Winter returns to Hotham for it's third year. This year's panel discussion will explore the themes of Longevity and Resilience in snow sports. The event is free to attend and includes bar snacks. Be sure to register your attendance.

The 2026 Snowboard Festival has officially landed in Thredbo and Hotham. A fortnight of snowboard racing heaven for all keen riders.

Launching this October, The Chumpy Project, honouring the late Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, will hold its first-ever youth camp at Mount Buller.

Founded by Alex's father, Chris Pullin, in partnership with Mansfield Shire Youth, the camp will bring together twelve local young people aged 15 to 17 for a transformative three-night, two-day experience built around three key pillars: character, courage and composure.

The camp is supported through the Engage Grant and the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia using Chumpy's Lodge on Mount Buller.

Snow Australia’s FUTURES program is back for 2026, and registrations for July and August events are now open.

The FUTURES program objective is to inspire the next generation of Snowsport competitors, whilst offering opportunities for participants to experience and engage with High-Performance facilities, staff and athletes, passion and enjoyment is a priority.

Women of Winter Networking Event - Hotham, Sunday August 9 at The Bird

Whether you are a seasoned professional or new to the industry, this event is aimed at promoting and supporting the presence of women in the industry and increasing awareness of career paths.

The evening will feature a panel discussion exploring themes of Resilience and Longevity.

The event is free and bar snacks will be provided. Drinks and meals will be available to purchase!

Snow Australia has released an updated Integrity Education Plan following a review undertaken in partnership with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA).

The updated Education Plan has been developed in partnership with SIA and outlines the required and recommended education for individuals involved in Snow Australia programs and activities. The plan supports compliance with the National Integrity Framework and Snow Australia's Anti-Doping Policy, while also helping participants better understand their responsibilities in creating positive sporting environments.

Snow Australia encourages all members, clubs, programs and volunteers to review the updated Education Plan and familiarise themselves with the education opportunities available to support their role within the sport.
