Sam Taylor Appointed General Manager of the NSTC

Snow Australia has appointed Sam Taylor as the new General Manager of the National Snowsports Training Centre (NSTC), following his previous role with Snow Australia at the facility as the NSTC Operations Manager.

Sam says his time with Snow Australia provided invaluable insight into the NSTC, its operations and the broader organisation.

“Being with Snow Australia at the NSTC in my previous role has been an incredible learning curve, not only in regard to our facility operations but the entirety of Snow Australia and its operations at home and globally."

“I have been very lucky to work within the amazing team and learn a huge amount about the Airbag and Acro facility, plus learning directly from Cathy Lambert, the previous General Manager, which has been an invaluable work relationship.”

Sam is excited by the opportunity to build on the NSTC’s growth and maintain a world-class training facility for athletes, members and the broader snowsports community.

A major focus will be the newly funded NSTC rail line and dry slope project, which he says will provide more varied training opportunities.

“We have begun the first stages of research and design, which is great to have the ball rolling."

Looking further ahead, he hopes to work closely with athletes and coaches to tailor the facility to their needs, grow the member base and diversify training opportunities.

“Competitions and the standard of riding is a continually changing landscape. The team here will work with athletes and coaches to build suitable programs, training blocks and specific facility infrastructure to drive athlete development.”

With a strong group of emerging athletes already training at the NSTC, Sam believes programs such as the Snow Australia Emerging Talent Program will continue to play an important role in supporting the next generation of Australian snow sports athletes.
