As we move through a busy domestic season, we'd like to share several important updates.

In this edition, you'll find details on a key change to FIS competition equipment requirements, with cut-resistant undergarment pants now mandatory for all FIS Alpine events. We're also introducing a new dedicated contact email for Alpine and Ski Cross enquiries to help streamline communication and ensure members can connect with the appropriate Snow Australia staff as efficiently as possible.

We're also seeking your feedback through the Alpine Community Survey. Whether you're an athlete, coach, official, volunteer, parent, club representative, recreational participant, or industry partner, your input will help shape the future direction and priorities of Alpine skiing in Australia.

This edition also includes information on Alpine Race Suits and Alpine Team Hoodie sales, with all proceeds supporting Australia's National Alpine Ski Team, upcoming Women of Winter events at Mt Hotham and Mt Buller, and the recognition of Malcolm Milne as a recipient of the Snow Australia Medal.

With several events taking place over the coming weeks, we would also like to remind all competitors to ensure their Snow Australia membership is current. Maintaining an active membership is essential for event participation and will help avoid any issues with entries as we head into the later part of the season.

Snow Australia would like to advise members of an important update to the FIS Alpine Skiing International Competition Rules (ICR), as outlined in the recently released SH Precisions.
FIS has updated the requirements relating to cut-resistant pants. The previous wording, which stated that cut-resistant pants were "strongly recommended" has now been amended to mandatory (as below) for all FIS events starting this season.

Cut resistant undergarments
Cut-resistant undergarment pants are mandatory for all FIS Alpine Skiing events and must provide at least 3-star FIS-DITF protection from the iliac crest to the top of the ski boot. Cut-resistant shirts or full-body suits are strongly recommended. 

To improve communication with the Alpine and Ski Cross community, Snow Australia has introduced a dedicated email address for all Alpine and Ski Cross related enquiries.

Effective immediately, all Alpine and Ski Cross; sport, event, entry and general enquiries should be directed to:

Using this dedicated contact will help ensure your enquiry is directed to the appropriate team member and responded to as efficiently as possible.

On behalf of Snow Australia's Women of Winter (WoW), we welcome those in the Snowsports industry to a networking evening to empower and connect with women within the industry.

The networking evening is an opportunity to make connections with women employed in our diverse snow industry, and create an awareness of career opportunities within the community. Whether you are a seasoned professional or new to the industry, this event is aimed at promoting and supporting the presence of women in the industry and increasing awareness of career paths.

The evening will feature a panel discussion exploring themes of Resilience and Longevity.

The event will take place at The Bird Cafe from 6pm-8pm.

Free entry, bar snacks will be provided. Drinks and meals will be available to purchase!

Mt Buller - August 15

Join us for a special evening to celebrate and showcase the incredible women in our community.

In collaboration with Snow Australia, we're bringing you a panel of inspiring speakers to share stories of leadership, accomplishments, and career journeys.

Kick off the evening with a twilight ride session and networking on the slopes before heading to ABOM Bistro for bubbles & nibbles on arrival, and the panel event. People of all abilities are welcome!

Everyone is welcome to attend, connect, and be part of the conversation. If you can't join us for the ride session, you're still welcome to join us afterwards from 5:30pm for the panel. Tickets are free!

Snow Australia hosted a special dinner in Melbourne on Wednesday 29 July to celebrate Malcolm Milne and his extraordinary contribution to Australian skiing. The evening brought together members of Milne’s family, friends, former teammates, athletes and representatives from across the Australian snowsports community for a night dedicated to honouring one of the sport's true pioneers.

With several events taking place over the coming weeks, it is important that you have a current Snow Australia membership. We encourage all athletes, coaches and officials to check their membership status and complete any renewals before attending upcoming events.
