HELLO PARK AND PIPE COMMUNITY!
Wowwy what a season we have had!
Athletes have been competing in a vast range of locations in many Park and Pipe events, from Junior FIS to World Cups. Our Aussie athletes have been achieving both personal bests and podium positions, which is absolutely fantastic!
Concluding our February events in Canada, Tess Coady had a smashing first Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup competition post-injury, landing in 4th place in Calgary! While Daisy Thomas placed 18th in Freeski Slopestyle at the Stoneham World Cup! LETS GO!!
Also in Canada, we saw some amazing results at the North American Cup competitions. In Winsport Calgary, Amelie Haskell stomped her way to 5th place in the Women’s Snowboard Halfpipe, alongside fellow Aussie Sascha Elvy who placed 9th in the same event. A Top Tier performance from Meila Stalker saw her on top of the podium, winning 1st place in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle on the 25th of February! Huge results from these legends! Earlier this month, Ally Hickman also brought her A-Game to the Nor-Am in Stoneham, placing 1st in Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, and 3rd in Women’s Big Air!
Over at the Europa Cup competition in Laax, Switzerland, Cam Waddell and Angus Falconer competed in Men’s Freeski Slopestyle placing 10th and 18th respectively! Also, in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, Jess McGregor came away with a phenomenal 4th place! WOO HOO!
With the international season coming to its final leg, it is great to see so many athletes competing. The recent World Cups in March have been a hit for our Aussie athletes. In the Freeski competitions, Daisy Thomas and Abi Harrigan have spun their way to an 11th and 13th place, respectively, in Tignes France Big Air competition. Together with an 8th place for Daisy Thomas and a first ever World Cup Silver Medal Second for Abi Harrigan in Freeski Slopestyle! Tess Coady also put down a fantastic run in Flachau, Austria. Earning her 6th place in Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle!
Our most recent results, outside of World Championships, have been from our young-guns in the Nor-Am Cup at Mammoth Mountain. Park and Pipe Freeskiers have smashed it with Hugo Broadbent coming 20th in Men’s Freeski Big Air, and Indra Brown placing 5th in Women’s Freeski Big Air, AND a fantastic 3rd in Women’s Freeski Slopestyle!! Alongside another great Aussie, Sian Townsend, who placed 11th in the Women’s Freeski Big Air as well! WAY TO GO AUSSIES! Our Aussie Snowboarders also put down great runs and came away with great results. Tai Vaughan placed 8th in Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe, and Amelie Haskell came away with another podium finish, placing 3rd in Women’s Snowboard Halfpipe!
The World Freeski and Snowboard Championships are done and dusted with great results from all Aussie athletes. Our Women Snowboard Slopestyle athletes, Tess Coady and Meila Stalker, came 12th and 13th respectively, and 23rd and 24th in the Big Air event. Daisy Thomas and Abi Harrigan competed in the Freeski Slopestyle event, putting down solid runs and placing 20th and 24th respectively, as well as 22nd and 24th in Freeski Big Air.
This weekend the World Championships went out with a BANG! Many Aussies landed on the podium, specifically in Snowboard Halfpipe where Scotty James took away the gold! Claiming his 4th gold medal in World Championships! In the same event, Misaki Vaughan and Amelie Haskell placed 22nd and 23rd for the snowboard woman!
Honorable mentions to all of our debutants, Joey Ellis, Daisy Thomas, Amelie Haskell, and Misaki Vaughan, for competing in their first World Championships and putting in a tremendous effort!
The international season is wrapping up in the next few weeks so be sure to tune in through SnowLive to watch our great athletes put their skills to the test in this final stretch!
As always, we wish our Park and Pipe athletes, friends, and families all the best for the rest of their season, and upcoming events.
We look forward to catching up on all the results!
