Come and try cross country skiing this July

Published Wed 16 Jun 2021

If you or your family and friends are downhill skiers and snowboarders, or if you are new to snow sports altogether, why not try cross country skiing in Perisher this winter?

Like other snow sports, cross country skiing is a sport for life and can be enjoyed with friends and family. A 'Come and Try' day dedicated to getting to know the discipline is coming up on July 10.

Organised by the Snow Australia NSW/ACT Cross Country Committee for those new to the sport, the event includes a 2-hour lesson followed by a tour of the Perisher cross country trails.

If you're new to the sport, you will greatly benefit from a basic lesson to improve efficiency in your cross country skiing, with weight transfer, coordination and balance amongst the key skills that are taught.

Participants will need to source their own cross country equipment for the 'Come and Try' day. Websites such as discoverxcski.com and perisherxcountry.org are great resources to consult before heading to the snow for a cross country ski run, offering tips on equipment and valuable information to get started in this fantastic sport.
